The Madrasa Ben Youssef "school Ben Youssef" is one of the most important historic monuments in Marrakech . It was built by the Saadian Abd Allah al-Ghalib in 1564-1565.
The name comes from the Ben Youssef Ben Youssef Ali Sultan. It was the largest university where Koranic students around the world came to learn. The madersa was for more than four centuries a shelter for students thirst for knowledge in various sciences, including theology.
The medersa has a quadrilateral plan with an area of 1680 m2 in the center of this school is a basin of white marble from Carrara in Italy. It includes a prayer room and rooms for students in number 132. This jewel Madrasah was built with the elements preferred Arabs: marble, stucco, tile and wood of cedar is rot resistant and weather
